  • How secure is gabi vs Alexa for Business, Papercut and other competitive alternatives?"
All gabi solutions provide Enterprise Grade security and are HIPAA compliant. No personal information is ever exchanged or stored All data processed by gabi is fully encrypted in transit and at rest No user voice recordings are stored, leaving Zero Digital Footprint Gabi Gov provides the added benefit of being “on-premise” behind your network firewall which meets the stricter requirements of government contracts. In addition, Gabi hardware is “tamper-proof” and will self-destruct if any attempts to open the device While gabi provides the “safety” of touchless capability during the pandemic, security is at the core of all gabi Solutions. No competitive product protects data the way that gabi does. Whether your client is an SMB, a large government agency, or a financial institution, there is a world-class gabi solution to fit their needs.
  • Are we buying a subscription or a piece of hardware?
You are buying a subscription supported by a piece of hardware, not dissimilar to how you subscribe to cable tv where you subscribe to an offering but need a cable box to make it work. In the case of gabi, you first need to select one of three hardware options: gabi VOICE - A gabi voice box connects to a single AltaLink printer [note – gabi voice only works with AltaLink, it does not work with any other printer or MFD]. It is a speaker that lets you issue secure commands to the AltaLink printer. Gabi voice uses Wifi to connect with IBM Watson and Amazon Cloud. IBM Watson is a secure brain that interprets your commands and translates them into instructions for the AltaLink printer. Amazon Cloud is a secure service to allow gabi Solutions to provide firmware updates. The gabi Voice box can also serve as a gateway to gabi Go. This allows for a special lower cost subscription price for Gabi Go when bundled with Gabi Voice because a separate gabi Go hardware box is not required. gabi GOV - A gabi Gov box connects to a single AltaLink printer [note – gabi voice only works with AltaLink, it does not work with any other printer or MFD]. It is a speaker that lets you issue commands to the AltaLink printer. It has an embedded “brain” that interprets your commands “on-premise” and translates them into instructions for the AltaLink printer It connects through the secure local area network to the Amazon Cloud to allow gabi Solutions to provide firmware updates. Because the gabi Gov box connects through the local area network rather than Wifi, it cannot act as a gateway for gabi Go. gabi GO - A gabi Go box connects to either a AltaLink printer or VersaLink MFD. A Gabi Go box does not have a speaker, it is a Wifi gateway to your AltaLink printer or VersaLink MFD. The Gabi Go box uses Wifi to provide a secure connection to your mobile device to allow text commands to be sent to your AltaLink printer or VersaLink MFD. A “user” downloads a “free” software app onto their mobile device to connect with the Gabi Go box. An unlimited number of users may download the app and connect to the Gabi Go box. Gabi Go also uses Wifi to connect with Amazon Cloud which is a secure service to allow gabi Solutions to provide firmware updates. Gabi boxes are “matched” to the AltaLink printer through a “license subscription”. You get the gabi box for free when you order and pay for a license subscription or NFR unit. You can buy license subscriptions from 1-5 years while NFR subscriptions are perpetual and never expire. Subscriptions do not “activate” or start until you place the unit at a customer location and go through an installation. So, you are not wasting subscription time until you install gabi. You can buy gabi Voice units and place them in “inventory” and then bundle them with AltaLink printers when you sell and install the printers.
  • Can I keep an inventory of gabi units?
Yes. Maintaining an inventory of gabi units can help you to be more agile and efficient. It will also allow you to take advantage of volume discounts when they are offered. “Subscriptions” for gabi units don’t start until you install and “activate” the unit. You will not lose time on your subscription while your gabi unit is sitting in inventory.
  • Can I “reuse” my gabi unit?
Yes. The gabi “box” is yours to keep. It never needs to be returned. If there is an active license subscription, gabi can be matched to any qualifying printer or MFD.
  • What is the best “buying” strategy?  Should I buy 5-year subscriptions or 1-year subscriptions?
This really depends on your sales approach and financial objective. You have the flexibility to buy gabi in a number of different ways. If you buy 5-year subscriptions, along with the payment up-front which can be financed, you will get the benefit of the lowest “annual” cost plus the flexibility to move the subscription to different machines or different customers at will during the subscription period. If you buy a 1-year subscription, you minimize your up-front cash. This is great for “easy-entry” programs. However, you will need to renew the subscription each year. While this is the least expensive option for the first year, the cumulative cost over the life of the printer is higher. The only renewal option is for one year at a time.
  • Can I use gabi Go with gabi Voice?
Yes. You will pay less for gabi Go when you bundle it with gabi Voice. The reason for this is that you don’t need to buy a separate gabi Go box. You simply need to activate gabi Go from the gabi Voice box. This saves money and we have a special price for gabi Go when you bundle with gabi Voice.
  • Can I use my smartphone or mobile device as a speaker with gabi Go?
No. The current gabi Go offering requires you to use the touchpad, not your voice, to issue commands.
  • What languages are currently available?
Gabi Voice and Gov are currently available in English. Gabi Go uses the inherent language capability of the mobile device. So, if your mobile device is set up in Spanish, you can issue commands in Spanish via your smartphone touchpad.
  • Gabi is having trouble listening to and understanding my commands.  What is wrong?
Gabi can only “hear” your commands when its lights are GREEN. Make sure you see a GREEN light before issuing your command. You need to say “Hey Gabi” to get it to listen. This is an important security feature. Make sure that you say “Hey Gabi” before you issue your commands. We have a simple command sheet that we recommend that you place near your AltaLink printer or VersaLink MFD. This will help users learn how to communicate with gabi.
